‘COLOR OF LAW’ PRESENTATION TO BE HELD AT NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor is hosting a free seminar for Hudson County residents on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at New Jersey City University. The seminar is titled, “Color of Law,” and will include information about Civil Rights and Bias Incidents.
The Civil Rights/Color of Law portion of the seminar will be presented by Special Agent Vernon Addison of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Agent Addison will discuss various topics including what happens when someone alleges that law enforcement acted outside of its authority, what happens if the civil rights of a citizen are violated, and what is the FBI’s role in these types of investigations.
There will also be a portion of the program that will include Hate Crimes and Bias Incidents that will be presented by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Angela Gingerelli. AP Gingerelli will help explain the legalities involving hate crimes and bias incidents, how to know whether or not you are a victim of this type of crime and what you should do if you or someone you know becomes a victim of a bias crime.
The presentation will be held in Multi-Purpose Room A in the Gilligan Student Union Building located at 2039 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City. Please note that street parking is not available without a permit. There will be parking available in Lot #1 on Culver Street beneath the GSUB for a $10 fee.
The presentation is free and all residents are invited to attend.
